Joining Forces with Kebumen, UNY Enhances the Quality of English Teachers for International Tourism

The English Education Study Program (PBI) of UNY is enhancing its collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies and businesses. In June 2024, PBI partnered with the Education, Youth, and Sports Office of Kebumen Regency to organize a community service program (PKM) that featured a workshop on Differentiated Learning for junior high school English teachers. This initiative included both online and offline components: pre- and post-workshop activities were conducted online, while the main workshop took place in Kebumen.

PBI UNY in Collaboration with DISDIKPORA Kebumen Successfully Held English Teaching Training for Elementary Teachers

Kebumen, July 13, 17, and 18, 2024 – In an effort to enhance English teaching skills for elementary school teachers, the Kebumen Education, Youth, and Sports Office (Disdikpora) partnered with UNY's English Education Program to host a collaborative workshop. The event welcomed 500 teachers from the Kebumen region, led by Dr. Lusi Nurhayati, M.App.Ling. Over three days, participants engaged in valuable learning experiences they could apply in their classrooms.

Fun English Club 2024: Potluck Party Creates Educational and Wonderful Experiences Through Food Sharing

English Language Education Program (PBI) held Potluck Party that was organized by Fun English Club (FEC) 2024. The Potluck Party was an outdoor event. It was meant to introduce participants to the American potluck tradition. This gathering aimed to strengthen community ties, expose children to a variety of agricultural and culinary foods, and provide an enjoyable educational experience.

In this Potluck Party, each child brought a dish to share, which taught them the importance of sharing and cooperation while allowing them to sample diverse foods from agriculture and farming.

Fun English Club 2024: Building intimacy and Fostering Nature Through Field Trip and Cooking Class

After a series of outdoor activities for Fun English Club 2024, on Saturday, May 18th 2024, the final outdoor activities of the event, field trip and cooking class, were held. The event took place in Desa Wisata Pendidikan dan Ketahanan Pangan Dukuh, Pandowoharjo, Sleman, Yogyakarta. This activity ran from 8.00 AM to 2.00 PM WIB.

UNY collaborates with Disdikpora to Improve the Quality of English Teaching in Kebumen

In an attempt to improve the quality of English education in Kebumen, several junior high school teachers participated in a specialized training on Differentiated Instruction for English subjects. This training was organized in collaboration with the Kebumen Department of Education, Youth, and Sports and the English Education Department of UNY. The aim is to equip teachers with the skills necessary to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Differentiated instruction acknowledges that each student has different learning styles, paces, and abilities.
