Fun English Club 2024: Potluck Party Creates Educational and Wonderful Experiences Through Food Sharing

English Language Education Program (PBI) held Potluck Party that was organized by Fun English Club (FEC) 2024. The Potluck Party was an outdoor event. It was meant to introduce participants to the American potluck tradition. This gathering aimed to strengthen community ties, expose children to a variety of agricultural and culinary foods, and provide an enjoyable educational experience.

In this Potluck Party, each child brought a dish to share, which taught them the importance of sharing and cooperation while allowing them to sample diverse foods from agriculture and farming.

The event took place on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 3:00 PM, in the courtyard of Lecture Building IV Amri Yahya. Participants were asked to dress in shirts for boys and dresses for girls. The event kicked off with a brief introduction by the MC, who explained the purpose and significance of the Potluck Party. Participants learned about the concept of potluck and were encouraged to enjoy themselves while learning.

As everyone shared their dishes, some participants took turns explaining their food, including its origin and how it was made, all in English. Alongside the food, the event featured engaging educational activities. Children explored the sources of their food and discovered how agriculture and farming are essential to daily life. The Potluck Party was a great opportunity for learning through play.

The event went off without a hitch and was filled with excitement. Participants eagerly brought and tasted a variety of dishes, fostering a sense of community and connection that aligned perfectly with the event’s goals. The FEC 2024 Potluck Party was both educational and fun for everyone involved, and there is hope for similar events in the future with improvements where needed.
