This activity aims to empower students to actualize their interests, enthusiasm, and aspirations. This year, the Ministry of Education and Culture invites university students to participate in Kampus Mengajar Batch 7 program.
This semester, 26 students from the English Education Program at Yogyakarta State University (UNY) enthusiastically joined Kampus Mengajar batch 7 program. This program involves placing these students in various public and private elementary and secondary schools in various regions. Here, they will apply their academic knowledge and skills in real-world educational contexts. By directly engaging in teaching roles, they not only enhance their own competencies but also serve as catalysts for inspiration and motivation for school students. Through their interactions and guidance, they hope to instill curiosity and ambition, encouraging students to aspire higher and have broader perspectives.
Additionally, one distinctive feature of this program is its flexibility. After completing the activities, participating students have the option to convert their experiences into academic credits. These credits can be used for courses such as Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN), Praktik Kependidikan (PK), and other relevant courses, providing added value to their academic journey.
Fauziyyah Mufida Suni, one of the participants in Kampus Mengajar Batch 7 program from the English Education program, said that the biggest reason for participating in the program is the experience that cannot be obtained elsewhere. "My hope is to be able to help schools even after I leave, expand connections, open my mind to things happening in the field of education. Besides, I also hope that by the end of the program, which is approaching the end of my college years, I have a very memorable and different experience compared to my peers."
Kampus Mengajar is an important step towards integrating theoretical learning and practical application. By actively involving students in community-based educational initiatives, this program not only enriches their academic experiences but also contributes to improving the overall education landscape in Indonesia. This is in line with the vision of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM), which aims to empower students and create meaningful learning opportunities related to real-world challenges and experiences.
